Can I Save This Bunny? Fixing a FAILED Makeover!

Sometimes makeovers go awry, and this is one of those times! I found this ugly rabbit figurine on someone's trash heap, so I rescued it and tried to paint it up to look cuter....but it was a complete failure and I gave up half way through! Having left it for a few months, I decided to have a second attempt. Will I be successful this time? Watch to find out!

Becky, Morris is just downright adorable! If you had a small chain, you could glue that to him for a pocket watch or a monocle.

You saved the bunny! That yellow was so horrible; I'm glad you could cover it over. (I've had to cover over bad color choices I've made, too.)

Always start with the lightest colours and add the darker colour

Morris is very demure, very mindful, very cutesy!! I love him! Those eyes were very creepy and I'm not usually one for getting creeped out, but they did lol, love what you did with him, the tux suits him perfectly!!

What a -gentleman- gentlerabbit Morris is.
Glad you saved him, although with sweat and tears (and a ton of paint).
Cheers from Italy.

Hi Becky - the problem is that the figurine is just a bad piece... nothing charming about it... even if you painted it solid black it would be terrible. But quite an effort. I'm going to buy one of those cats with the waving paw. Regardless of the result I always watch you doing these make overs. Thx

The hat and bow tie were great additions to the rabbit. 🎉

So cute! From tragedy to triumph! One thing you might want to try the next time you are mixing a light and a dark color together is to start with a blob of the lighter color first and then add the darker color to it a little at a time, especially when working with black. I've done the same thing and ended up with a rather large tub of a color I was trying to get because I started with the black first. Lesson learned! Well, except for the times I forget it...🤣

My mom did so many ceramic painting! Try some dry brushing of the acrylic paint over the top to give a realistic hair appearance!

Hi Becky, Morris quite dapper! You did a wonderful job even if it took you a couple of tries. I should check out a thrift shop sometime for a makeover project. But that will have to wait a bit. I have too many other things going on right now.

I'm wondering if something like air dry clay would have helped fix parts of the bunny you didn't like, for example the eyes. I see others use it to help change the shapes of things like this. I need to get myself some from Amazon, because it looks fun and I think it could be used in a few arty ways.

Anyway it took a while, but you got there in the end and it looks really good and no longer creepy.
