THE BIGGEST MOUNTAIN IN KEFALONIA! Mount Ainos!
Panoramic views & Aerial Tour of ST. GEORGES CASTLE

In this video we set off to climb Mount Ainos, which seems to always be surrounded by cloud. We got to the top and the cloud got thicker and darker, so naturally a few days later we climbed the biggest mountain in Kefalonia, again! Luckily the second time we were rewarded with stunning panoramic views around the island of Kefalonia and could even see across to the Island of Zante!

After our second hike up the mountain we grabbed a late lunch from a cute little restaurant called Kafepolian before heading off to our second iconic location of the day - St. Georges Castle which is now in ruins but accessible to visitors, it also has a beautiful spot just outside the castle which is the perfect sunset viewpoint looking over towards mount Ainos and the island of Zante.

The castle is usually open to visitors every day except for Mondays and entry is free of charge sadly due to the hurricane a few days ago the castle was closed for safety reasons, luckily we still got to see it from above!

We were so happy that you decided to make the hike again when it was less cloudy. It was great to experience it both ways. I really like the spookiness of the first hike, but obviously the views from the summit were so much better the second time around. Ending the day with a sunset view from the castle was perfect!

The first time you climbed it was so eerie. The mist, grey sky, and lack of people seemed a bit creepy. The second time with the clear skies seemed much more appealing!! And great views. 👌 That's dedication to do that climb twice. But the area seemed to have great views.

It's crazy to see all the damage done from the hurricane. So glad that you guys made it back up there on a clear day. WOW the views are crazy amazing...so worth it! I LOVE the time lapse footage of all the clouds. Your lunch looked yummy! You can't go wrong with feta and olives. What a fantastic video! I'm so glad I watched this. It is so well done and a pleasure to watch. I went to Kefalonia four times a few years ago and Mount Ainos once, and this video brings back so many brilliant memories. I really enjoyed the fascinating journey back down the forest side too, it was like an added bonus instead of us backtracking. How awesome that you were able to do the hike twice, the second time is definitely beautiful from the peak especially with the drone of the mountains and the turquoise sea water. Although you weren't able to see much the first time the moody stormy views were pretty cool in the forest. Definitely damage there but it seems like it could have been way worse!
