FFP gives a good model to how the modern economy works in terms of wealth and taxes. Those with wealth ironically are able to get away with more than those without regardless of what the rules make to believe

FFP has never been about fairness. It’s “fair” in name alone. It always been about keeping the established names at the top since that’s who generate the most money. UEFA never wanted a Man City or Newcastle or whatever because they don’t generate the same level of money as others do, it’s only about money.

I think they still need 11 more players.

2:00 "For example, you get around £4.50 per 'thing' in the champions league, in the europa league that's £1" Cheers for that clear and detailed explanation Sky. Love measuring everything in "things"

It's amazing how can they spend so much and still have such a bad squad

Amazing that this could be called "fair play" by any metric.

I guess that recent "fit and proper owners" test that Chelsea were supposedly subject to after Abramovich was forced to sell, doesn't factor in whether that owner will proceed to take very risky financial gambles with the club's future transfer policies.

Thing is they aren't gonna make the champions league next season unless they win it this season, that's highly unlikely because there's at least 4 or 5 teams that are far better than them, it makes sense why they've spent so much the past few months because next season they might not be able to while they are generating much less money playing in Europa League

I think what most people don't realise is that FFP wasn't implemented to stop clubs spending too much money. It was implemented to prevent wealthy club owners from spending like crazy and then writing off the losses from their own pocket (like Abramovich or the Emirati royals could have). Essentially FFP exists to make sure clubs can only spend what they earn from playing football and not from private finance.

The deadline for list A is February 2nd and List B only counts for players who have been at the club for 2 consecutive years or 2 of the last 3 with one year on loan. All 5 won’t be able to play. Only 3. Read the rules next time lads.

Completely ignoring the hundreds of millions spent by the previous 2 Chelsea managers.

Todd Boehly is playing Football Manager with in-game editor turn on.

Todd Boehly is basically doing what we all do in Football manager, stretching the payment as long as possible and hope it doesn't catch up to us in the future. :D
If it works Chelsea will win the quadruple like how I did in my last save. If it doesn't they will be stuck with 3-4 Winston bogardes and may even have to sell players to buy like what happened to Barcelona.

5:25 Graham Potter gonna have a challenge managing those players when they are all fit, so many options.
Could be a headache for him

its a strategy that can work, but its risky. in the nhl my chicago blackhawks did the same thing, signing a bunch of expensive good players on really really long deals that increased in wages over time in some cases. it did result in a few championships but afterwards it resulted in years of stagnation as the team was full of overpaid average players that it couldnt get rid of.

Financial Fair Play is a little bit of a misnomer. It was never about being ‘fair’, it was about ensuring that clubs don’t go bankrupt leaving players and managers unpaid. Clubs with rich owners had and will always be at the top, assuming they use the money to buy the best players, because the owners can always supplement a club’s revenue via self-sponsorship deals.

It would be helpful it numerical data could be made available to define the parameters of Chelsea's spend rather than just saying the CL enables them to.
