The officer is right. That is not an ebike, it is an EBOX Dragster. Its motor surpasses the 750 watt limit for ebikes and it has no functional pedals. Therefore it is not classified as an ebike.

That cop was professional and courteous. Right from the go, he stated what I know implying he he may not know all the laws, and the guy educated him, which was great. No ego, awesome, should be the chief of police.

in the UK a e bike has to have pedals if it don't its a motor bike, These electric bikes are known as ‘electrically assisted pedal cycles’ (EAPCs). You do not need a licence to ride one and it does not need to be registered, taxed or insured.
