Things that are normal in Germany, but not the US

Do you do this in your country?

In Germany when there is stopped traffic on the highway the left lane pulls to the left, and the right two lanes pull to the right—that way there is a free space so emergency vehicles can drive through!

Something so simple that I wish we did in the U.S.!

Rescue lanes should be mandatory in every country!

In Germany it's called RETTUNGSGASSE.
Rettung = rescue, Gasse = alley

I love this rule. And if you don’t want to follow it, just remember, it might be a loved one at the front of the traffic jam, who needs help.

But the light color is difficult to read on the similarly light background.

In Texas, you have to slow down 20mph or change lanes for emergency workers including tow trucks

In America, the emergency workers just use the shoulder if traffic is stopped.

Yeah instead of getting cut off by 18 people in a 5 mile stretch

I mean, you could just pull over for sirens or emergency lights instead of for nothing, but I guess that's better than not pulling over 🤷
