The Brady Bunch is one of the most classic television shows in American history. As we all know, it follows the large blended family of the Bradies, which consists of parents Mike and Carol Brady, and their many children, Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby, and Cindy. The premise of such a large family inspired all sorts of shenanigans on screen, and was a perfect blend of wholesome and ridiculous.

The show was created by Sherwood Schwartz, who was also the genius behind the classic sitcom Gilligan’s Island. The Brady Bunch first aired on September 26, 1969, and ran for five seasons until it eventually ended on March 8th, 1974. While it is considered a staple of classic American television today, and is extremely popular in syndication, it wasn’t always so popular. In fact, during its original run, The Brady Bunch was outshone by shows like Here’s Lucy or Gunsmoke. It wasn’t until it entered syndication that people really began to appreciate the show for what it was.

Today, people all over the country still enjoy watching reruns of The Brady Bunch, and it’s even considered a cultural icon. The classic intro sequence and theme song is well known, even amongst children who weren’t even dreamed of at the time the show aired.

After producers realized how popular The Brady Bunch became after it entered syndication, they decided to make more shows based around the same premise. It inspired a large number of spin-offs, including The Brady Brides, The Brady Bunch Hour, and even a few made for TV movies. Today, one of the reasons that The Brady Bunch has remained so popular is that it is widely considered to be the very last of the classic old-style sitcoms.

Many people imagine The Brady Bunch to be one of the most classic and wholesome television shows of the past. However, as you’ll soon find out, there was a lot more going behind the scenes, and not all of it was as pure as what aired on television. In today’s video, we’re going to take a look at eight dark scandals the cast of The Brady Bunch tried their hardest to cover up, because they knew it would ruin the reputation of the show. Make sure you stick around, because we’re also going to reveal how one cast member had to hide his sexuality! We hope you like this video, and don’t forget to subscribe to Facts Verse for more!

"I killed him." Florence Henderson's answer when asked in an interview about what happened to the Brady girls' father. Now that's my kind of sense of humor. 🤣😅😄

I love the Brady Bunch, I’ve watched every episode multiple times, I watched the variety hours, Brady Girls get Married, Brady brides, A very Brady Christmas, Brady 500 where Bobby is a race car and the Brady’s a short lived six episode hour long drama in early 90s which I think can be found on YouTube. I’m a huge fan of anything Brady bunch.

I knew all of these for years. I read a bunch of Brady Bunch books.

All of this is OLD news. Actually Robert showed up on the set for the last episode. It was decided NOT to have security remove him, as it would surely upset the rest of the cast. The 'honesty" that Robert imbued in the Mike Brady character is what helped make the show. He also paid for a trip for the cast to go to England! What a nice fellow he was.

Not for nothing but this video comes straight from the Barry Williams book, "Growing Up Brady".

I already knew those secrets so nothing shocked me! However in the finale episode Greg's hair didn't become orange because of a prank. Bobby didn't expect that to happen so it was just an unfortunate accident!

Met Maureen McCormick in 1995 when she was trying to make a break into country music. She was very nice and even made a short video for me for my buddies stationed in Japan.

Florence Henderson was a part of the festivities at the Indy 500, and also rode in the 500 Festival parade the day before the race. Just a year or so before she died, she was in the parade and a boy held a sign that said it was his 8th birthday. She climbed out of the convertible, autographed his sign and kissed his cheek.

I grew up watching the Brady Bunch in the mid 70s and 80s and I absolutely loved this show!! Never knew there were so many behind-the-scenes romances and despite Robert Reed being gay those kids adored him tremendously!! LOTS of fond memories is all I have of this ICONIC TV show.

Per other cast members statements Robert Reed was not on camera for the last episode but he was there on set.

Met him in STL around 1968, at the Fox theater. Very nice guy.

I already knew most of this. Good Show. Like a pair of old comfortable shoes. Makes you feel good to wear them or watch in this case. Nothing deep. But that is why people love it. Great escapism!!!

Part of the reason it remains "popular" is that half-hour shows are a lot easier to air in syndication than hour shows. Or, if you have an hour to fill, run two back-to-back and make it a selling point.

There are a lot of shots of the homes exterior that show it clearly as a one story rancher. When we see the interior there is clearly a flight of stairs going up to a second floor of a two story home. Impossible.

Steven Spielberg was interested in Maureen for Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark but Maureen showed up completely coked up and ruined her audition. Oh what could've been.

I read "Growing Up Brady" by Barry Williams. He revealed so much of the behind the scenes of the show from his point of view. Good book. Chris Knight and Eve Plumb also dated. Chris also married and divorced Adrienne Curry season 1 America's Next Top Model winner. They met on the VH1 show "Surreal Life" and had the show "My Fair Brady." Sad they didn't work out but both are happy living normal lives. Peter Brady was my favorite. I loved the show as a child. I only saw reruns because I was born in 1979.

The only thing that surprises me is that anyone is surprised by any of these facts.
