In this true crime video, we discuss missing person Esther Dingley, who has been missing since November 22nd, 2020. Boyfriend Dan Colgate wants answers. Esther went on a solo trip to explore the Pyrenees Mountains, documented her trip, and then mysteriously vanished. Police in Spain and France are looking for a man she met who may have been involved in her disappearance.

Travellers such as "free spirits", adventure seekers, hitchhikers and so on are often highly idealistic people who have a special interest in new and unique experiences. They are thrilled to be able to seek out others and enjoy widening their horizons. Unfortunately, these factors can also lead to a suspension of the ability to accurately assess situations. Everyone they meet has the potential to provide a fascinating encounter with like minded souls, cultural mixing and friendship. Human psychology in general has a bias to view strangers in a positive light, at least at first. If you want positive engagement with the world, you are likely to give the benefit of the doubt. Unless suffering from Paranoia, most humans will default to a more relaxed approach to their circumstances. It is very hard to maintain active questioning/suspicion 24/7. Even experienced hikers/climbers, who would never travel alone at home, or not carry proper supplies, throw caution to the winds on an "adventure". Sadly, "Travel Tragedy" is all too common.

Never ever go alone...I got parted from my friend in bad weather and was trapped on the mountain.I was very, very lucky to survive.It was a beautiful day but within 2 hrs I couldn't stand on my feet with the wind, I couldn't see 2yds with the fog, it snowed a foot deep.I managed to get down purely through will power.When it goes dark you can step off a ledge thinking you're on the path. Unless you've been in that serious situation, you can never really understand the severity.

As a true crime enthusiast, I wouldn't go hiking alone as a woman for a million dollars...not way, no how. i can list about 10 women off the top of my head right now who went hiking alone, honestly thought it was all right, and ended up found dead, nor not even found as they were kidnapped. I know we only hear about the ones that are missing but why chance it? As a solo woman hiking, you're too much of an easy prey target.

Those mountains are barren and hard. So rocky and steep. Not good! Then snow added. Even more dangerous!

The mystery man has been identified as a septuagenarian businessman from Spain. He dropped her at the footpath of Pic de Sauvegarde according to his account. He said she discussed her itinerary with him and it's different from what's presumed to have been planning.
