Great video! Good points! And very funny with the little videos that you have added from the tv shows!

Well explained. This is our first cruise so having an ocean view was the important part so I’m fine with it. I would not like the view if Central Park.

Thank you for the vid. This sounds perfect for us, but informed us to bring our cabin fans.

A 100% love the cruise, staff as usually, new technology, decoration amazing, so fresh, light colors, infinity windows and love the balcony/windowll. Love it😊

I actually really like this room. It was great for the extra space I needed with my toddlers and helped me with my anxiety of them falling overboard. Had a great view lf the ocean without having to worry about them trying to climb over the rails. 😂 Queation though, i thought it was 200 square feet + 50 square feet so a total of 250 square feet. Not a total of 200 square feet. Am I mistaken?

For traveling with my kids, I would love to have the extra space and never open the window (let's face it, it's not a balcony, it's a window) however, if it's just me and my husband then we would definitely prefer a balcony. I feel like the window light situation would be so easily fixed by just adding a curtain like in a regular balcony room to divide that section.

This was helpful thank you - it confirmed our suspicion that this "balcony" wasn't for us (though you did a nice job of explaining that some might like it). We enjoy sitting out and taking in the ocean, plus being able to air-dry wet swimwear and clothes on a balcony is very appealing when we cruise - you can't do that with this setup.

You are paying for a balcony room and getting an ocean view room. Hated this room because of all the reasons mentioned. Having a difficult time now booking cruises with a proper balcony room unless you book a couple of years in advance. Great video!

If traveling with 5 family members you now can travel in one cabin in these cabins. Big positive.

A. We are going on the Star of the Seas in late August and we booked this room. Our last family cruise was in a 1 bedroom concierge room on Disney. Our cabin was huge and we didn't need one that big because we were NEVER in it. We also don't really need a balcony. I was the only one who used it and I only used it for maybe an hour combined on the 5 days we were on the ship. The only thing I used it for was drying bathing suits.

We are from Texas, our balcony cabin was welcome in July as the Carribean weather was cooler than the Texas heat. (Even without a/c).

I rather a regular balcony. I just got off the Jewel of the Seas. This was my first cruise. I had a great experience. I would like to go on Icon of the seas. I prefer to have the real balcony

Great video! Thank you, going in June with my family. Balcony room

I’m with you guys. Much prefer a “real” balcony than the infinite veranda. One other point… People say you get an “unobstructed” view of the ocean with the infinite veranda. I say that with two walls - one on either side - I see it as a totally “obstructed” view cabin vs the balcony. Thanks for your great review.

Thank you so much - I love your videos!!! We prefer the "regular" balcony cabin...it just makes more sense to us.

Much safer for families with little ones. The balcony scare me with my kiddos but I booked the infinite balcony because if feels much safer. This is why RC lists these rooms as "A great option for families." I love that RC is inclusive of families when many other cruise lines seem to be forgoing the family altogether.

RC decided to invest in Infinite Balconies (IB) after hearing from a lot of their guest over the years that parents were concerned that children would either climb up and fall from a balcony or throw stuff off. Many folks that could afford a balcony room took an interior room for that reason during cruising. The IB was the compromise between view and safety. When they designed the Central Park area in Icon they put IB on floors 10, 11, and 12 exclusively because they did not want the liability of things falling on guests walking or dining in the Central Park corridor and dealing with room investigation and discipline. They did put some regular balconies on 14 because it's high enough that kids would not be able to target someone accurately they hoped.

Celebrity introduced ocean-going infinite verandas years before Icon of the Seas so I guess parent company Royal Caribbean must have gotten some good feedback to make the decision to include some on Icon. Anyway, I sailed on Celebrity Apex in the Norwegian Fjords and I was very happy to have the infinite veranda because it was COLD and I got to sit at a floor to ceiling window and watch the incredible beauty of the Fjords without freezing! That said, I went on Celebrity Beyond in the Caribbean and booked one of the 20 or so "porthole veranda" cabins instead of the IV. Some have an obstruction but if you book early enough you can get one that is not obstructed and you get a "real" outdoor balcony. It's like the cove balconies you see on other cruise lines so it's not windy and not full sun. It's a good alternative unless you wish to sunbathe on your balcony, then you'll need to find another ship 😉
