An alternative:

Exit the game. Over elden ring press the 3 Lines. Then select 'quit' which should force it to stop running (I believe a similar issue I was having for Skyrim, DS3, etc was involving that 'quick return' from it running). Then simply reopen the game

How i fixed my elden ring on xbox was i uninstalled it, reinstalled it then unplugged my console and external storage overnight. Also dont forget to pray.

I play on xbox series x and I just had this issue. I tried quiting the game, unplugged the Xbox and left it off for 5 minutes, etc. So what worked for me is go to system, then console info, then reset console and click "reset and keep my games and apps". This will factory reset your console but you will keep all your games and apps, it will take you like 5 min to do the process. Hope I can save a poor soul out there ❤

I don't even get it I just bought and started up the game haven't played any of it and I'm having this issue I've done everything you've done and it's still not working like really

Hey there guys, for anyone who still suffers from this issue, I found a solution for the steam players out there.
There are a multitude of ways to fix it but in 90% of all cases ur files will be lost and not retrievable. The Problem lies in your save files being corrupt.
All you guys have to do is to go to your Elden Ring, right-click and untick the box which says "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Elden Ring".
You gyus have been playing withe corrupt data and cant log in due to steam downloading the corrupt data from the cloud over and over again so you will have to unsync that.
After youve done that jsut start the game make a new save and tick the bock again.
Now all you have to do is choose the local files and not the cloud files and then all the data will be overwritten with the new save

Fixed it on Xbox Series X


Go to the game in your library, go to manage game, then delete the data that’s on your Xbox (DO NOT CLICK ‘DELETE EVERYWHERE) just delete the data on the console itself

When you load the game back up it’ll sync to your last cloud saves

Also pray that this works because that’s what I did

Hey bro I just started playing elden ring and 50 hours in I got the same issue. What worked for me on Xbox is deleting my saved data and when I opened the game my character was still there. If anyone’s have this issue still give it a try it’s better than not playing at all if it does reset your character

i factory reset my computer and i still got the same issue so idk man

Mine was doing that, but closing the app & loading it back worked. Lost a lil progress tho twice with it

Yeah I know the pain I lost fucking five hours I was just until 3 AM yesterday and all of my work from 3 AM all the way up to 10 o’clock is gone
