NOTE: After making this video, I found that PPPoE actually is supported on Packet Tracer, it's just not supported on the router model I used. However, show commands for PPPoE are very limited on Packet Tracer. I'll leave the video as is. Back to Packet Tracer next video!

Hi, I don't know if this will get seen since it's 3 years after the video was made, but I was wondering as a newb to networking, when configuring PPP and PPPoE like this, is the point-to-point connection to the ISP and we just don't ask too many questions on how the ISP gets the data from R1 to R2, or is the point-to-point connection technically from R1 to R2 and the ISP/SPR is a medium?

My understanding is that the static route config can also have the dialer interface itself as the outgoing interface, rather than the ISP's address. Example: "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dialer 1". Is there much difference in doing so? I would suppose not, if the IP of the ISP doesn't change...but can that be expected?

Also, since this is a PPP network, there are no broadcasts, thus no ARP requests for the IP of the ISP. Is this correct? Otherwise, it may be best practice to have the outgoing interface as the destination in a static statement, as it can possibly overload the router if the network has many other routers and hosts (due to the frequent ARP requests)?

Thanks again for these videos! I'm on track to complete my CCNA this month :)

It can also be used over normal ethernet connection like utp or fiber. And in ccna pppoe config over telephone using DSL so I have this question
