I own a Volvo xc60 and love the car. You need a video like that to get to the key fob battery as it would have been very hard to figure it out on your own

Could volvo have designed the key fob any worse and made the battery process any more ergonomically impossible? I am pretty sure hands do not operate this way.

It would have been smart to make end of the key capable of screwing cap of the battery compartment.

People with arthritis in an emergency situation needing their key are doomed.

Great video. Now do one where the key fobs won’t work and two Volvo dealerships and Volvo corporate don’t know how to fix it and you can’t open the fuel filler door either even though the doors will unlock manually and run with the key fob in the center console. That’d be great because I have a $45k driveway ornament for the past 4 months.

I have had to do several battery replacements for this key fob. I dread it every time - worse than a trip to the dentists. The key (sorry) is to keep the fob attached to a key ring so that you can get a good grip to slide on and off the covers.

I'm a new owner and I've learned from experience to take the battery out of the spare key because once the battery from the main key dies years later and you go for the spare key the battery's drained on that one, too. I had to look this up in order to remove the cover. Such an overly complicated process.

He just skips over the button step at 1.26. You have to slide and hold this button whilst sliding the back cover (with some difficulty) off

The video doesn't make it clear that there are two buttons. The exterior black switch button opens the side with the key. Once that is open, an internal metal switch button opens the side with the battery. There are in fact two internal metal switch buttons.

Great - thank you. I also learned that when the battery is dead the car can pick up the signal in the cup holder.

I changed the batteries and all of a sudden, my key wont work. Help?

I have replaced the batteries for both keys but neither are working properly. I regularly get the ‘key not found’ message when I want to start the car. I then lock the car and unlock, then the key is detected. When I want to unlock (when I’m outside the car) I often need to lock first and then it works. After I have put the car in Park, it also gives the ‘key not found’ message, even if the engine has not been turned off.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Does anyone know how to get to the internal compartment of the FOB (beyond just the battery replacement)? I have a stuck “lock” button and I want to see if I can DIY fix it without replacing the entire thing.
