Miracle Baby is a documentary film offering an unprecedented look at the process of uterus transplant - from the science behind the procedure to the incredible emotional impact it can have on a family.

After learning she'd been born without a fully-formed uterus (a condition called Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome, or MRKH), Jen Gobrecht was forced to come to terms with the fact that she'd never be able to carry children in her own womb. Then she learned about Penn Medicine's Uterus Transplant program, and embarked on a journey she never imagined was possible.

Follow Jen and her husband Drew as they navigate every twist and turn from transplant surgery to IVF to pregnancy and ultimately delivering a healthy baby boy.

I had to have a complete hysterectomy at age 22 in 1980. I remember being devastated when I woke up from surgery realizing I would never have a child. I called around the country about something called invitro. I had read about it in a USA Today article. An astounding new science. The Dr. I contacted from up North said do you still have your uterus and I said no. He was so incredibly kind to me. I am sure he could sense my agony of wanting to conceive. He said you would have to have a uterus transplant and I am so sorry but the science is not there yet and may not be in time. He was right. As sad as this sounds I am SO THANKFUL FOR SCIENCE and the Doctors who made her pregnancy possible. I’ve felt the agony of not being able to have your own child and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Well done. God Speed!

Let's take a moment to thank the donor and her family, and think about what a great loss they've had, to give a woman this gift. How priceless, and loving.

Ok, Drew’s energy and love for his wife and the raw emotion he has for the chance of having children with her really made this documentary epic.

I just can’t get over the thought of having a uterus from a deceased person. 😳. So glad this story had a happy ending. Hope many more couples are able to have babies this way.

Being pregnant is such an incredible experience. I'm glad that they can do a surgery like this that allows for people like them to be able to experience it.

I didn’t get pregnant until I was 48 (menopausal hormones) kicked in and it has been the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I totally understand the desire to have children, so if people wanted to give their uterus to others that would be such an awesome gift.

Just finished the video. There’s so much joy from everyone involved in the creation of this little life! I get a special feeling when I see Dads like this one who really wanted their babies and care so much about them!!! (My Own father never wanted any children, yet he had 7 of them from two marriages! I was the sixth one of his babies and during the whole nine months of my gestation, he was angry at my Mom for carrying the pregnancy to term! Then he abandoned all 4 of us children from his second marriage when I was 5 so that he could marry someone else.)
Anyway, it’s so heartwarming to see the doctors are so happy too! Ive never witnessed so many people working together to accomplish something so very meaningful! That little baby boy is so, so adorable!!! Congratulations, Mom and Dad!
This video is one of the most meaningful I’ve ever seen!

What a beautiful story. I've recently undergone open fetal surgery to repair myleomeningocele for my unborn son, and this felt close to home for me. You go through a lot of "not normal" in some of these situations, but caring teams who are personally invested in your success make it all so much easier. I can't imagine the emotions that would come with being told you'd never carry a baby and going through with procedures like these, but I do understand the odd defying devotion of mother's and fathers, and of the individuals who dedicate their careers and lives to helping them achieve the best for their families. So glad to see mom and baby happy and healthy! An update would be amazing.

When I was pregnant with my twins I had pre-eclampsia. I had to have a c section at 26 weeks and 3 days. My daughter weighed 1lb 2.2oz and my son weighed 1lb 3.5oz both 12 inches long. They are now 18 months old both happy and healthy.

My IVF doctor, Dr Putman in Dallas, TX, did the very first IVF procedures post uterine transplants with Baylor in 2017. It's so amazing what they can do now. Watching these women hold their babies that they never thought possible is absolutely amazing.
