Great video on Roman forts! I've always been fascinated by the engineering and logistics of the Roman military. These forts were truly impressive structures that played a crucial role in the empire's success. Thanks for sharing!

It was amazing that in recently declassified military satellite photography from the 1960s that archeologists have been able to identify the sites multiple Roman forts in the Middle East.
PS — Many of these forts would be unrecognizable in current times due to ground disturbances in recent years.

When I was born, our house was built over the remains (the northern gate) of a large Roman fort overlooking the estuary of the River Tyne in North East England. It was called Arabeia. It is suggested that the name came from the expert Arab sailors from Iraq who were brought over to this location to help the Romans bring in supplies at the tricky estuary for the army that manned Hadrian's Wall. It was an important fort. The fort had not been properly excavated when I lived there, but in the 1960s, the houses that were preventing the full excavation were demolished. It has now been fully excavated, and worth a visit.

Did you know that the towns in England whose name ends in - chester or caster were originally Roman forts that evolved into cities or towns ? There's also a town in France called Castres. In Welsh the Latin word castrum becomes caer as in Caernarfon.
