I have to admit I was never really into Ed Sheeran, too, but I saw him headlining Pinkpop festival recently and I was completely blown away. He deserves to be on this list. Hands down.

I never understood the Ed sheeran hate, his music is simple, and it's seems genuine, English is my second language and when I was studying English Listening to his music was great help because he's easy to understand and his music is easy on the ear.

The thing with pop music is how great you are is entirely based on how much you sell, how much money you make, how famous are you etc. Or at least it used to be when the charts mattered and people would buy records, nowadays most pop music is just crap people hear on tik tok, half of its not new, half of its actively earrape. Stuff that people are actually fans of like taylor swift or bts is now like super niche to anyone who doesnt actively want to listen to those artists. I cant name a single taylor swift song from the last 5 years cause I just dont hear them. A list of the biggest pop stars of the 21st century should entirely be dominated by artists who were big in that 2000s causd pop music was still something that was universal even if you didn't like it you still would been aware of what the biggest songs were at any point.

Regardless how you feel about Ed Sheeran's music, if the list is based on importance, not having Ed Sheeran in there would be insane. I don't have accurate stats on hand, but he was the third biggest popstar of the late 2010s, the most successful modern acoustic guitar folk act, I think he had the number 1 song of 2017 and more than one major hit for other years too. There is no world where a list includes Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Drake, Rihanna, Beyonce, Adele but not Sheeran

I’ve seen so many people both online and irl hating bad bunny for no valid reason, and I will always stand by saying that he is a def an artist that’s worth checking out. (And you’ll end up liking some of his songs and albums) He has released memorable and catchy albums to date in the history of pop music and when it hits, it really does cuz he is being genuine and forward thinking on there. I don’t think him being just overplayed and having some corny lyrics justify all that hate. YHLQMDLG is a banger Latin trap album and Un Verano Sin Ti is his most versatile album. Besides all the influences and stepping stone of Latin music community and whatnot, he should not be overlooked as an artist.

From my point of view, reggaeton and pop (in Spanish) sometimes overlap in Latin America. So I guess Bad Bunny is undoubtedly a pop star.

Katy Perry at 25 is kind of fair tbh. Yeah she hit really high highs but her thing pretty much expired after 2013 so that gives her what, 5 years of longevity? Plus she isn’t very relevant or influential today so the placement makes sense to me.
