Hi Jim, I really like the tie. That caddis will float all day! If the hare's ear gets wet it will just look like it is struggling in the surface film. Brilliant! then if you want it to float higher you can always treat the body. I like it. All the best to you and God bless. Sean

That is a good imitation of a newly emerged caddis. Hares ear seems to be right up there with Peacock Herl.. It catches fish. The tutorial was great. Thank You

I see I am not the only one that ties those! Some 25 years ago I had one of the best weeks I ever had on a trout stream fishing the Mothers Day Hatch on the BeaverKill, Rosco, NY! I take the hare's ear off the mask and run it thru a coffee grinder! Add a trailing shuck and you have an X caddis! The materials are not expensive, 14, 16 and 18's work the best for me, an 20 or 22 black one for that black caddis hatch on the West Branch of the Farmington will produce fish when nothing else will!
