UP Nikay Chunav Results: BJP Leaders Felicitate CM Yogi As The Party Sweeps Urban Local Body Polls

UP Local Body Election Results 2023: As the counting of votes cast during the two phases of the urban local body polls in Uttar Pradesh was underway on Saturday, the ruling BJP in the state established leads on all 17 mayoral seats. It is projected to win 99 in the municipal council and 192 in the Nagar Panchayat after several rounds of counting. The Samajwadi Party is trailing BJP for the second spot. Voting was held to elect 1,401 corporators. As many as 19 corporators were elected unopposed. Shahjahanpur has voted to elect its first mayor. Meerut and Aligarh had Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) mayors in 2017, while the BJP ruled the rest. In all, 162 public representatives were elected unopposed, while there were as many as 83,378 candidates in the poll fray for 14,522 posts.
