Unpopular opinion time. The mother knew she wouldn't be a good mother. She didn't want children. But her husband wanted kids, and so for him and the love they shared, she put her body through hell, not once but twice to give him the children she never wanted. Now the children are hero worshiping a father who knowingly had children with a woman who not only didn't want children but both of them knew she wasn't mother material. This man set his wife up to be the bad guy all because he wanted kids even though his wife did not. If he wanted kids so badly, he should have chosen a woman who also wanted children. Instead, he created a toxic family environment for them all. The father isn't the good guy here. Both of the parents are at fault for having children in a family with only one parent who actually wants them. I grew up in such a family. There is no free pass for the "good" parent. They are just as responsible knowing their partner was going to be a shit parent and having kids with them anyway.
