Geez, I remember those old phone booths. They had directories attached by a chain, and some even had small seats so you could sit down while you made your call.

Both Warner Oland and Sidney Toler both did wonderful versions of Our beloved Charlie Chan. J. Carrol Naish not so much. I am glad it was only 26 minutes long.

I really like J. Carroll Naish as Chan. I began watching the old Chan movies on TV around 1952, at age seven. Later, loving Chan movies, I did have a complete dvd collection of ALL those movies, and had watched most of them at least two times. Therefore, I am tolerant of "new" renditions of Chan, and Mr. Naish, in my opinion, did a great job. After all, it would be impossible to bring Oland, Toler, or Winters back from the dead! Naish was a great actor in the movies, and he played Chan effectively, I think.

PS. For the record, I've seen every Charlie Chan with W.O and S. T. at least 10 times and have created a viewing guide with clues, quotes, trivia, and so on. By this time I know every episode inside and out. Enjoy everyone. What the world needs now: Uncle Charlie Chan.

Nice to see Philip Ahn in the early scene. Let's not be too hard on J. Carrol Naish, no one, absolutely no one could ever replace Sidney Toler or Warner Oland as Charlie Chan...except maybe Tim Curry who could portray a king or a carboard box and do it justice. Enjoy everyone.
