Popular 1990s Beauty Trends

Hello lovelies, today I will be talking about popular beauty trends in the 1990s. I had so much fun filming this video because I remember these trends from the late 1990s.
Beauty Trends:
1.90s Blue Eyeshadow

Frosted blue eyeshadow was very popular in the 1990s. Other popular colors included pink, lime green, and periwinkle.

2.90's Glitter

Glitter makeup became popular in the 1990s thanks to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. It was applied to the eyes, face chest, and hair.

3.90's Burgundy Lipstick

If you look back on old photos from the 1990s, you will see celebrities wearing dark burgundy lipstick. The dark berry hue had a hint of brown was the most popular lipstick color of the decade. It made any simple makeup look dramatic.

4.Frosted makeup

Frosted lip colors and eyeshadows were trendy in the 1990s, and they are making a comeback.

5.Thin Eyebrows
Very thin, over-plucked eyebrows were in style in the 1990s. They remind me of eyebrows in the 1930s. It is interesting because thicker eyebrows have been in vogue for a while now. I wonder if thin, over-plucked eyebrows will come back in style again.

My memory of makeup in the 90s is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse & Great Lash mascara, A LOT of frosty/shimmery blues, silvers and pinks, and Lip Smackers lip balms. This was more of a late 90s trend, going into the 2000s.

90:s face makeup was heavier, grittier in texture than today’s. Clay like foundation, reddish and orange blush applied in visible stripes and pale lipstick. The ‘celebrity’-type, commercial makeup was not an everyday look.

I was a teen in the mid to late 90s. I remember a lot of these trends. I wore a lot of what would be considered goth or grunge from the 90s. Popular cosmetics were definately frosted.

Hmm, I remember other beauty trends from the 1990’s:

-grunge eye makeup
-pale foundation that was waaay lighter than the neck
-totally matte complexions
-brown/tawny lipstick
-short, layered hair
- teased bangs (early 90’s)
-baby bangs
-French manicures

I remember really thin eye brows, Rum raisin, Maybelline light brown eye pencil as a lip liner, Heaven and Dream body spray’s from GAP, and the short hair trend of Drew Barrymore, and 90210 Kelly and Donna.

Max Factor X-Rated clear lip gloss! Max Factor "Nude Scene" lipstick with a Revlon brown lip liner! That's how I recreated the lip from Janet Jackson's "That's The way Loves Goes" video! Lip gloss wasn't popular in the early 90s so when Janet's lips got shiny I had to do some sleuthing and found out from a magazine article that X-Rated lip gloss was what Kevyn Aucoin used to get her lips so glossy and gorgeous! The Max Factor "Nude Scene" lipstick was how I would get the PEFRECT Naomi Campbell nude lip! Loved my 90s makeup!

I wore the heck out of Revlon Toast of New York and MAC " O", Retro, and Del Rio. In the early 90s everything went brown based as a reaction to the colorful 80s. late 90s I think gloss starting coming back especially for young girls. I wonder if others on here remember Estee Lauder Go Pout lipstck. That was excellent and I almost cried when they discontinued it.

Matte brown lips and smokey eyes were my favorite back in the 90's ❤
I also remember using Indian earth makeup in the 70's. The original all over bronzer. Lol.

This video made me smile because i wore all thise looks and thought I looked so good! I still wear a Burgundy lipstick. Another big thing was lip liner. Like a very obvious brown outer lip filled in with a glossy pink or other color. I love a yoyr video but this was so relatable. Wish it were longer😄

Fun fact - The signature 90's brows became popular after celebrity makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin plucked Cindy Crawford's iconic full brows for a photoshoot. He also gave Kate Moss the same brow makeover. They ended up booking more work due to this new look, and then the pencil thin brow trend spread like wild fire!
