This narative is skewed. Why are you starting with colonial era and not pre - colonial era? Mzilikazi only came into this Guruuswa state from South Africa in and around 1836 when the Shonas had long been doing their rituals at Njelele . We are all Zimbabweans. Obviously there are tribes that are more in numbers than others. The Ndebeles are 1% because when Mzilikazi ran away from Shaka, it was him and his close family. Definitely, you cannot expect them to be more than those that come earlier. Why not just press for the implementation of the Devolution Clause on the new Constitution, what if Manicaland and/or Masvingo decide to also go the same way? This motion of further dividing Africa up into smaller States should be detested, let us promote unity and not division.

I would suggest that a referendum be done among the 16 ethnic groups who form the `Ndebele` state. The Ndebele state was built on cohesion/force.Pple had to identify themselves with the Ndebele because of fear of being killed or their cattle or women taken from them. So lets do a referendum that might solve this issue

Also to correct Mr Fuyane, the colonisers did not take mashonaland first then decided to take matabeland too just because. Africa had already been divided on a map in the Berlin conference and our geographical area was already given to Britain...many african nations were just shared between the europeans regardless of ethnic geographic divisions.After decolonisation, many african nations have found a way to move forward regardless of tribe, not to undo the map from the Berlin conference, Rwanda is a good example for us....Lets find a way to work together like Rwanda not to split

I would say lets implement devolution of power and give provinces power to run themselves. Dividing further makes us weak as a people. The Mighty USA is a united front of 50 states under one country. We can do much better with the few provinces we have. Lets not split into two countries but rather correct all the wrongs and have a strong nation. The Mat land climate is not the best agriculturally speaking but is rich in other things. So we need to stick together and share equally what we have as a country.

I think Gambagwe you can see matebele people are not tribalist. They are democratic they decide according to their feelings not decisions according to where one comes from. I think they can make the best government.
