Quick update: Replayed this the other day, and since the early update that rebalanced the start section, Wo Long is much more enjoyable.

The gap between the big red attacks you need to parry is much more reasonable, instead of being 10 minutes between him trying them. It feels much more like a tutorial that shows you it's punishing without being unfair

Personally I love the game first boss took me 38 tries but I’m glad it did since it got me used to the mechanics

Once you're at the boss stage, head back near the beginning and fight the mini boss, clearing any enemies in the way. This should level up your character and morale enough, allowing you to defeat the boss with ease.

The first boss ain’t even hard, all you literally have to do folks is raise your morale

I don't think the first boss is hard, it's just the learning curve for understanding the game. If he was a boss mid game it would be the easiest fight in Wo Long. No crazy wizardry, flying attacks, not having multiple opponents, no aoe 1 shot potential, etc.

Well, I think there's something to be said about personal preference because I like games that are absurdly hard and feel impossible, basically completely skill based games

I like the hard boss right at the beginning because you have to understand the game at least somewhat to be able to beat it. Allows the rest of the game to be less of a learning curve. He is just slightly earlier, Genichiro. He's there to make sure you are prepared and understand the basics. I wish I had someone like this in Nioh 2 when I first started. I was absolutely lost for the first 10 hours. Only took me 8 tries to beat this guy but I learned a lot.

1st boss is amazing cause he truly teaches you how to play the game. Always felt every death was my own fault. Now a later humanboss who spams electic attacks like pikachu on crack is something else smh

I beat that first boss in 5 attempts 😴 I just had a hard time realizing I was to heavy during the beginning of my playthrough so I couldn't parry 😂

Hey! I'm thinking of picking up my 1st Souls like game for my PS4, what do you recommend? Sekiro or this? Btw I'm a casual player. My only background or at least close to a Souls like game that I've played was the fighting mechanics of MG Revengeance with the dodging and parrying.

There's an option tiger mini boss you can fight it made me feel better about the mechanics and I breezes through the boss
