Is it really possible to heal split ends?

I get them regardless I see a few single strands within a couple months not that bad but by the 4th month they snag a little. I'm going trims twice a year to get more length. I don't think there's a need to constantly keep cutting black hair because it's going to naturally do it's thing regardless it's all about management.

I have a habit of picking at my split ends (it made it worse). Idk how I developed the habit. It actually soothes me for some reason.

But whenever I found the "tree" I always had a field day cause I'd just sit there, picking at it forever.

Well, anyway, now my hair is as healthy as ever.

My hair had knotted up and I had to do a major protein with a cap on my head for a while to comb it out. Lot of hair came out but oh well. That my fault.

Taper is new growth or growth yet to be cut. If I remember correctly. I wonder if its less vulnerable to damage than a cut strand. Is it naturally sealed but once old /dryer prone to splitting.
