That is in fact not what socialism means. Socialism is when those who produce (workers) own the means of their production typically through a democratic government with a command economy or through a system of co-ops in which everyone in firm has some sort of voting power to make decisions about the firm. Adequate compensation is more of a social democratic aim because it focuses on pay, which most socialist (particularly Marxist ones) don’t see as the defining variable of the different classes of society.

The term "adequate compensation" is very subjective. I would say we already have that but the government is actually forcing this on employers through "minimum wage" instead of letting the market decide wages and other prices. Those wages would be reflective of all those who engage in the market, which is virtually almost everyone

Socialism is all about taking money from people that know how to make and manage money and giving it to people that don't know how to make and manage money. And that continues until nobody has any money anymore... Capitalism is about teaching people how to make and manage money... What would you chose?
