Working holidaymakers from overseas have been given a six-month reprieve from being hit with a so-called "backpacker tax" in Australia. Under the plan, Australia's foreign workers would have to pay around 33 cents on every dollar they earned. Backpackers in the country often work in agriculture and hospitality, providing an important source of seasonal labor. Proponents say the tax could increase government revenues by nearly four hundred million US dollars over the next three years.
