On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Phoenix AZ on 1-5-19.

We're looking at a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air with 20K original miles, and still has the original tires! The car comes with the factory V8 engine.

The car's Owner is Jim Sheehan. Jim’s had this car since 2018. He shares after a woman originally purchased the car and drove it just a few miles, and sold it to a Museum. The Museum stored the car for 35 years. His friend purchased 9 cars from the Museum and asked Jim if he could store it in his garage, and Jim fell in love with the car and purchased it from his friend.

This survivor is just the way it came back in 1957.

Its an unbelievable gem. I have just bought one with real 14.500 miles, same original condition, all the documents and full story. Mine’s got fresh tires though but the spare wheel is the 66 yrs old Firestone, too.

I owned a 57 Chevy. My dad taught me about cars with that vehicle. We tore down the engine and rebuilt it. That knowledge has stayed with me all my life. So, I have a nostalgic affection for this car. Thanks.

This is my beautiful sons phone.. loved the recommended video on the original condition bel air. This is a passion of my son. He past away from colon cancer the 26th of December. He was only 30 years old. He has a original 1971 chevelle. He purchased when he was only 17. He had me his mom looking all over the United States to find his dream car. We found it only 10 miles away from a little old lady. The only wear on it was a little hole by the gas peddle where her high heel wore into and a little ding in the back bumper were she hit the trash cans. She only ever drove it from home to church or the grocery store. It sits in his garage as his collector piece because of a family he never got to do what he wanted to and didn’t probably put more than a thousand miles on it himself. What a tragedy. He has all these boxes of ordered stuff for it just sitting in his garage and cancer took him so fast he never got to work on it. 😭 we share the passion for these beautiful pieces of machinery. Can go down the road and notice any of these classics without drooling. Have to put the window down just to hear the sounds of there imagines. Love the Elmer Fud comment about wheeleatate. Joshua Blizard’s mom. 💔

That 1957 two door Chevrolet Bel Air is identical to my dad's yellow Bel Air that was traded in for a 1961 two door Impala. Congratulations, Lou, for this unique classic find still in mint condition.

Amazing! I owned a 57 Chevy I paid $50 for once. I drove it for six months and sold it for $100. It was a eleven year old northern Wisconsin rust bucket. This is a WOW, WOW, and WOW car. Thanks Lou.

just now seeing this, i see its at least 3 yrs old but this car is just insane. "safe driver" sticker award from 1959 and original tires put this car in a class of its own!... thanks Lou

These videos are invaluable to me as reference material for my car modelling. And that is just beautiful, I had a poster of a 57 Chevy on my wall when I was a kid in the 80s they are just the pinnacle of 50s design for me.
Thanks Lou

One of my all-time favorite cars. Would occasionally see on the road up here in the Northeast, usually as a hot rod back in the 80s. Have not seen one on the road since the 90s at latest. Absolutely beautiful. No wonder Jim looked so happy at the beginning of the video. Great story.

The 55's56's & the 57 Chevys were the best Chevys of that decade. The biggest thing about restoring Chevys is the parts availability. They made more vehicles than anyone else except maybe Ford. When I used to do auto body & paint work, I met this guy that had two 57 Belairs & he wanted me to restore one & give me the other one for payment. It turned out that the one he wanted to give me was a basket case. It had rusted out ratholes on the fenders, rocker panels, quarter panels, & floor pans & had badly pitted chrome on both bumpers so I passed on it. That's what happens to cars when you just let them rot in an open field!!! The weather beats the hell out of them. Now about that 57, it looks pristine inside & out with nice chrome & trim & Nice Red paint & nice interior plus it has the original 283 engine which was a very good engine. My dad had a 63 Impala with the 283 engine & he had 150k on it before he traded it in. The only things he replaced were the water pump, starter, & alternator. That's a very cool looking 57 Chevy. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️that car!!!

Lou, I don’t know how you find them but please keep up the good work for your loyal subscribers! I myself prefer cars to be driven, but in this case, it should be preserved in its original condition. Just beautiful and a wonder to see. Thx once again Lou!

No Telling What This SURVIVOR IS WORTH, But From Way Owner Talks, It's Not Leaving His Garage, & Don't Blame Him, It's A TRUE COLLECTIBLE TO BE KEPT & ENJOYED, AFTER ALL, ITS JUST STARTED ITS LIFE, After A Long REST !!! The, 57:Ford Fairlanes Outsold The 57 Bel Air, Only Reason I Can Think That Happened, Is 57 Stk.Fairlane Mtr .Was 292ci, But 312 T Bird Eng. was An Option on the Ford. 283ci Was Largest Eng.The Bel Air Offered. Tks for Sharing
