Please ask Madhav Gadgil, he will properly explain why this massive land slip happened. Such land-slip will continue to happen unless atleast implimentable portion of the said report is implemented.

We should not allow any rock quarry.
From Nedumpoyil to Manathavadi if you travel by road at least three places half of the hills are removed for rocks. Such land scape how Govt can allow such activities.
Our Govts totally discarded report from experts like Madhav Gadgil, Kasturi Rangan etc.

Dear madam and sir
Land slides not based on construction and tourism it depend on absortion of water in hills
Example my village witnessed landslide in 2002 at that time there was not at all tourism and Also my near villages also...
Mark my words

Massive deforestation happened since 1980's for tea plantations and increasing quarry mining in addition to cloud bursting due to increased temperature in Arabian sea.

Harissons Malayalam Plantations Ltd is one of the largest plantations in India. This company is holding tens of thousand hectares of plantations all across Kerala. We don’t know yet who are holding the actual owners. As per my knowledge the colonial owners are still controlling this type of companies in India though their Indian agents, holding companies etc, even after independence. In 1986 periods, plenty trees were cut for replanting cash crops. The roots of big trees are normally the attaching and holding the soils with rocks. When the roots decompose, there soils gets pipe shaped holes. This soil pipes making landslides. Abolish big plantation companies holding tens of thousands of hectares of land.
