We visited one of the only sargassum-free spots in the Caribbean; the island of Cozumel in The Caribbean of Mexico and have put together a guide on WHAT TO DO IN COZUMEL MEXICO, on a budget. Cozumel is known as an international cruise ship destination in Mexico. We did this trip as much on a budget as we could and saw and did some awesome things, we share all our secret spots in the vlog.

when I was a kid, I went snorkeling in Mexico once and I was so lucky the water were clear, the current was calm, and the weather was sunny. And the reef was very healthy as far as I could tell 🥺 it’s so heartbreaking that the reefs are stuggling…I’m glad the Mexican government is going to let some of the reefs recover. 😔 I hope there are still lots of healthy reefs in Mexico like there were when I was I was a kid

You are so right, sometimes reality does not meet expectation. However, it still looks like a great experience!

Yeah they should’ve let you know about the currents! I watched a snorkeler in Maui and he said that there are stores/companies that literally email you the conditions every morning so you can decide if you want to snorkel that day. I wish Mexico did that too.

Where do you recommend I snorkel when I come to Mexico this month? I noticed los rapidos were looking good for filming underwater and swimming! Do you think I should go to Cozumel and el cielo before they close the reefs in October?

Ola Simone y Geovanny!
The day trip to Cozumel was a highlight of our two week stay at PDC January/February 2024. We booked a snorkeling tour online with Cozumel Cruise Tours as well as ferry tickets with Ultra Mar. Very easy to do and reasonable rates for both. From Cozumel ferry terminal our group was transported to the marina, about a 20 minute drive, followed by a 30 minute boat ride in choppy seas. Transportation, PDF floatation vests, masks and snorkels provided, bring water shoes - you don’t really need fins and easier to get in and out of the boat. We arrived at the south end of the island and the first of three locations to swim with clouds of tropical fish, then to view starfish and finally to a submerged party beach where other tour groups were congregating. Our guide and boatman were very friendly, safety conscious and prepared a delicious lunch of guacamole, cervezas followed by a tequila toast to a glorious day.
A couple of things to note: We booked our tour on the only day during our stay when no cruise ships were scheduled to be in port, the boat ride can be a bit rough on a windy day, perhaps gravol for those susceptible to motion sickness. Also no bano aboard the tour boat - something to keep in mind when the cervezas are offered at lunch - the boat ride back to the marina can be long and bumpy 😬. Looking forward to PDC 2025.

The snorkeling looks beautiful! I’ve never been to cozumel. Which reef did you go to? We have our gear so I want to take my kids off shore for a few times bc they are first timers (and seeing any fish will please them), then finish our trip with proper cozumel snorkel boat trip. Do you recommend any beaches in PDC where u can snorkel off shore and practice + see a few fish?

Hi guys! Financially wise, do you guys feel like itll be better to get ourselves on the ferry to the island and then go around the island and once in there look for snorkeling tours ? Or is it just cheaper and better to buy the tour while @PDC, which covers ferry, food, snorkeling gear etc?

This was really useful, thanks guys. I sat with a pen and paper taking notes for cozumel. We want a day to snorkel here but with Luna being young we need a trusted company (life jackets etc) The tips are definately useful for us.
P.s love Alba from the Cozumel tour 🤗 "hasta luego bebe" x
