There should be no expiration date. Period. For anyone. I didn't have time for school. I was raising a family.

It’s ridiculous that there is an expiration date

Its sad all the guys that fought during the toughest years in Afghanistan and Iraq not to mention the guys in Vietnam have a expiration date for benefits. This has to change

I served In Afghanistan in 2003, for our in 2004, my Gi Bill expired in 2019. Unfortunately I’m not eligible for the “forever” Gi Bill.
I 🙏🏼 they change that 15 year stipulation so that those of us who served on and close to 9/11 aren’t left out of this great benefit.

Lost my GI Bill because I went back to school right when it expired. I wish we could get reimbursed what we put into it.

Agreed no expiration date for all of us. I had to get out in 2010 due to medical issues and retired but would have had 20 years at 2015. This sets up a special interest group. Keep the amount time limit example 48 months or reach a doctorate. However, I am glad that those who got out after Jan 1, 2013 have the forever GI Bill at least that's a start. Especially when many were informed that the forever GI Bill would be here for us too. As well there should be a process to convert to the forever GI Bill. There are open seasons for medical insurance and getting company benefits usually every October. So why not do that for veterans that got out before 2013?

Yes they both do. I can’t quit my job for Certifications or Trade school. I have Cirrhosis of the Liver. Only G.D. Reason I went in the Corps was for college, and the Government screwed me. That idiot that said “No Veteran should not have a degree” Doesn’t live in the real world. Doesn’t know what manual labor is. No wife, no kid’s, it can’t be done. I’ll never have a degree, least my brother went straight to a University after 12yrs in the Army, I tried Full-Time work and School. Katrina hit, screwed up all my plans. Made great money but not enough for college. Oh well, waste of my gosh dang life. Dead friends and horrible images. 👍🏻

I had a seizure at the 20 year point during the transition period when it was initially fielded. I couldn’t continue to serve to transfer the benefits to my daughter. Even if I could have she is a Senior next year and it expired. I had medical issues and didn’t use my original GI Bill of Post 9/11. No there is no expiration. 💯 CRAP and totally unfair

So I was in the army national guard from 2005-2015. I deployed to iraq from 4/2009-4/2010. My va benefits expires 4/2025 on my COE. I start school 2/17/25. My question is will they still honor my 36 months of benefits since I started 2 months before it expires or do they only give me the 2 months of pay and stop after 4/20/2025. Or do they at least pay the 60% of the school cost.
