Altered Dominant Licks with Quartal Harmony

Altered Dominant sounds are one cornerstone of Modern Jazz, and probably Quartal Harmony is another! This video will give you some ideas on combining the two. I go over 3 examples of Altered Dominant licks using an altered scale and quartal arpeggios. For the arpeggios I also cover some exercises to give you a vocabulary of Quartal material to work with coming from the melodic minor.

Finding ways to incorporate Quartal Arpeggios into both your scale practice or guitar technique routine can be very worthwhile as it opens up for a lot of interesting melodies that you won't otherwise have access to.

Hey Jens, great two new vids. I really apreciate...
Maybe it's interesting for the community... Because I'm a bass player I can not take everythin one-to-one. I have to apply it to my needs/instrument to get sound well.. So getting nearly similar altered sounds I practice this concept with Pentatonics. On D7alt. I use often Ab Maj Pent.(= F Min Pent) the same way. As Double Stops and also on three strings. Practicing the same way as you do with the Eb-MM. Maybe it is interesting for somebody...
