This is a gorgeous piece, and while you always do a stunning job designing the flow of hair, the thing that stands out for me is the flower. As a design element it just seems so unique and alien like. I think it's one of my favorite parts of your art, is just the transformation of normal things into stylized elongated shapes.

I love playing as a method of practice, just laying down lines, washes, and swatches in an effort to learn to do different things, apply different textures, etc etc

I am very detail oriented and after high school I got stuck in this mode, where all I wanted to do was draw the same piece over and over because I always found some imperfection I thought I could make better. Your videos have helped me break out of that and I have been able to actually finish a sketchbook for the first time in almost 10 years. Thank you so much for all your wonderful advice!!

Congratulations, this piece is beautiful Danica :) I'm also working on my colors at the moment and I highly suggest you check out Marco Bucci's videos on color, they helped me a lot ! Something I might try doing is to only paint with greys, to try to create a sense of color and mood with greys of different temperatures and hues :) I think that might help me to understand color relationships better.

I do at least 4 versions of different palettes before working on the final piece, but sometimes I like more than one, and that decision is hard XD

Hi Danica! How do you feel about the health risks associated with the pigments used in paint? I just started using watercolor and the possibility of getting sick from them when I'm older scares me. I don't have anything with lead, cadmium, chromium, or cobalt pigments, but I'm still a little nervous. The system for naming pigments can also be a bit confusing. Sometimes the manufacturers use chemical names and other times they use everyday names, making it tricky to do thorough research. Any tips? Thanks :)
