Avid S1 Control Surface Overview

I was gonna buy Artist mix..Decided to hold out.Kinda glad I did..Can instantly break down s1 for mobile recording or can have 32 tracks.Then they mimicked the S series control surfaces with the visual feedback and layouts that can be used on their s4 and s6 surfaces..Not bad Avid..Not bad

"compatible plugins" what does that mean, only AVID?

I'm struggling to find a detailed presentation, on how the plugin parameters, are spread out on the rotary knobs? Are they as none logical as the Artist Mix = random order, so for example, the SSL channel strip, with take 5-6 pages to navigate? Or has there been an significant improvement here? Hope my question makes sense. 🙂
