Yesterday, i found a dove was nesting in a basket on my balcony. She has two eggs.

How fun is this!! We have birds nesting homemade wine corks nests, an old wooden birdhouse my husband built years ago (it’s in use every year, a cool mailbox birdhouse ( has a cute garden area on top!). Another nesting area we discovered by accident. A clematis growing up a cool light pole! Their nests look like old socks! It was a bushtits nests! We love those fun birds! My husband put up an old boot on our grape arbor. Kinda cute and fingers crossed for more nested! I love this time of year! Can finally put on shorts to work in the greenhouse and garden’

Someone told me that the mom sets on the eggs at night. And the dad sits on them during the day. Your babies are so cute.
It's been so fun to watch.
I'm excited for mine to hatch. Even though it means I won't be able to move my plants outside until they fly away.

I promise originally thinking they were pigeons isn't a cardinal sin 😂 pigeons and doves are very closely related, and they nest in somewhat similar ways! the eggs and hatchlings also look very similar, vecause pigeons are... really just big doves used to living on cliff faces 😅 pigeons can also be very pretty! if somebody gave you crap for an easily mixed up distinction like that, I'd say they probably aren't an ornithologist, just a person on the Internet with too much time and not enough empathy 😂
