This is something I live by.
This idea kind of started when I was a kid, and every time I would get (physically) hurt, I would just think that when I'm healed, the pain will just be a memory, and it won't really stick. This is also true for mental health; if I have a few weeks or months where I'm anxious (or depressed) eventually that'll go away, and I'll be stronger because of it.
And speaking of gain; by dealing with physical pain before, and noticing it, I now have a really high pain tollerance XD
