The bonds do not 'break' during a state change it is the intermolecular forces which are overcome.

Quite good and concise.
1) Kindly note that the b.p. / m.p. involves overcoming intermolecular forces but not breaking the bonds within a molecule.
2) Nice if you can elaborate with alcohols (ROH) as an example, as it really bears the functional group (OH), unlike alkanes.
