Philips BX626 tube radio restoration - Part 1
This set dates from 1952, and comes with 6 bands: MW and 5 SW bands, but no FM.
It has a Phono input, so adapting it to a bluetooth receiver will be possible and desirable, to make it more useful.
This particular radio has a 6V battery power option, besides the mains power input, so it should be interesting to see how they do that.
Stay tuned. This is just the beginning.

Bit of an odd ball model but very intriguing, looking forward to seeing more updates. Australian resident, been following your videos for a few years now I think your channel is one of the best on YT. You really deserve more subscribers. Just picked up my first tube hifi set a Graetz M518D. One of the peaking coils had fallen from the underside of the chasis and unwound partially and unsoldered, hoping to rewind and glue back into place. Looks like they only used molten wax to hold them in place.

Nice video as per usual. I am having fun with tune radios too (Tesla Humoreska 2).

What an un usual radio! The vibrator pack is similar to early car radio's with valves. Being 6 volts, that would power the heaters directly. I think you would have to use a very large battery, probably a car type as the current draw will probably be about 5 or more amps.

This reminds me a little of the "farm radios" we had in the USA, designed to run on batteries that were usually charged by windmills. At first I was wondering if this was one of Phillips' 1950s sets with a transformerless totem-pole output, but from the other comments I see that the can is a transformer. If no vibrator is located, maybe it uses one of the tubes as a power-conversion oscillator.

There are valve radios and then there are Philips valve radios!

Did this radio came from Brazil? It seems that it has a label written in Brazilian Portuguese inside it ...
