Hey Mr.Drubbel, Nice build. I have a question, I am considering buying a P-bass kit and making it a PJ-bass. Is there anything I should watch out for? Also I read on a forum that if you use a single coil J-bass pickup at the bridge, it will hum because there is no second pickup to cancel the hum out(pickups will be out of phase). Is this an actual issue? Thanks

I have a question, when it comes to PJ bass there is two different positions for the bridge pickup, the standard one and the 70´s vintage one that will position the bridge pickup a little closer to the bridge, the tone different is quite noticeable. Which one did you go with ?

Thanks for this, the only thing I missed was the routing for the pickup cable through the body to the existing cavity? Long drill at an angle?

How did you get the template off? Mine is really stuck on there.

I did this and my neck pickup doesn’t work and we’ve tried 3 different pickups and a bunch of wiring schematics and still nothing. Any tips? Please nothing stupid. Everything should be working unless I missed something in the build

In 2006 I was gifted a black 2006 MIM Fender P. Early 2013 polar vortex cracked original finish.
Fall 2013 RIP OG finish, hello YT pic finish.
Fall 2018 want darker natural finish. Did it.
Summer 2021 want black again BUT!!!! I want its entirety to be that of a brand new expensive black piano, except the neck...Teak Oil for that because personal playability. I've acquired every single item to do this over a few months and began the prime/fill process last evening.

And other than the Aerodyne...your finish is practically a mirror and I love it. Did ya clean it first or what because it is so sharp looking. Oh yeah that pick up...thingy 😁haha that's what this video was about. Gonna slap a MM soapbar for the bridge pick up, upgrade the neck pick up...tone knobbys.

Sorry for the rant but your bass finish started it.

Great vid, thanks for sharing. I am trying to wire up a PP bass, and cannot find any info on it. Maybe I shouldn't have mounted the pickups already.
Can a PP be wired like a PJ?
