Foundry VTT, Creating an Adventure with the Modular Town System Part 1: The First Town Scene

Hey Everyone, Zephyr here with a series on creating an adventure using the Baileywiki Modular Town System.

In this series, we'll go through creating a multi-scene town complete with NPC's, combat encounters, and a small quest line, complete with boss battle.

Part 1 is all about setting up the base for our multi-scene town, including the first scene that the party will enter. We'll go through the process of linking it to an existing scene, creating terrain, placing buildings and clutter, sound design, adding NPC's, and setting up some Quick Encounters.

I hope you enjoy and that it helps you level up your DM prep.

It was very interesting to see you go through the whole process of prepping a session in Foundry. Seeing the quick encounters module at play during your prep convinced me to actually try it aswell, looks like a great way to speed up the process of discribing what happens and the setup of the encounter itself. Looking forward to the next part, good job Zephyr, thx ;)

I am attempting to build a small town and this is really helpful! I have a question. Say I wanted there to be a message board in the center of town with various things written on it. Is it possible to make a map note (or something else) that plays a recording of the messages on the board when opened by the players? It'd be neat from an immersion standpoint for the characters to experience listening to these notes in the voice of the characters that wrote them.

Those prefab buildings already have their wall layers set?

The assets you're using are from dungeondraft, right?

I would be so pissed at my DM if they went through all this work putting together a map with convoluted modules, then filled it with random name NPCs without a thought to them 😅 amazing what all this stuff can do together, though.

This tutorial moves way too fast, can't see like any of the dialog boxes and what you are clicking on and you don't explicitly tell us at all. Please slow down for future tutorials as this one was a real chore to try to get through pausing it, going in slow motion, and constantly rewatching parts of it. Not everyone for example is fluent with multi-level tokens. You don't mention at all how to do it it, you just say you are doing it and finish the tack in like 5 seconds. You then say "I'm going to set the width to 30x30 grid units" and extremely quickly just change the map size to 3000x3000 - not everyone knows that you have to take that number then divide by the grid size of 100 to get to 30x30. It's confusing saying "I'm going to set it to 30x30" then typing in 3000x3000 to newer users to Foundry.

This is more like a showcase for people that already know exactly how to do it already but just need some inspiration rather than an actual "tutorial".

So difficult to understand what you're doing, you go through everything so fast. I either find walk throughs that go at a good pace but with bad examples or walk throughs with good examples that go too fast to understand whats happening. I want to like your material but the pace you move at just makes it difficult to.
