The legions of the dead are on the march, mindlessly shuffling closer! Join me as I paint some 3d printed 10mm skeleton light infantry, sculpted by Forest Dragon. Requiring only 7-8 paints, these are a must have for small scale fantasy wargaming.

Awesome. I just finished my small Vampire Counts from Forest Dragon. Black Coach, Lords, Grave Guards and dire wolves. Really enjoyed painting them . Skellies will be next

Those are gorgeous sculpts and you've done them serious justice with the painting. The Aly of the brown liquid is GW sculptor Aly Morrison and designed plenty of the old undead ranges these minis pay homage too. Coming full circle!

Love these. The basing reminds me of WW1 mud. I wonder if a tuft could be chopped into 6ths and placed around. Thanks for sharing!

Many people think painting 10-15mm minis is easier and faster than painting heroic scale minis.

Is not. Not at all.

These look great. Thank you for sharing your technique. Pleased to hear that you're using them for Fantastic Battles, too. I have some Wood- and Dark-Elves coming for that as well, although I was thinking I'll stick with 40x20 bases so I can use them for other games too. You're making me rethink that though.

What technique did you use for priming? Brush on primer with a zenithal/grey dry brush?

I am also currently painting those skeletons. The sculpts are nice, but they have the same problem that many 3D-printable models have. There are just too many areas that are very hard to reach with a brush without getting paint on other already painted areas. The poses of these skeletons are just too dynamic. In my opinion painting them is a real pain in the butt. I have already invested several hours in batch painting 2 complete units and they look terrible. Maybe I should not have primed them white, but black instead and then just dry brush them with white.

Very nicely done. I know you said you didn't like it but that rusty gold look on the armour I thought was cool!

Was it just a wash or a mix of your own? Ive searched around but couldnt find anything

When can we see more Fantastic Battles content?

Just discovered your channel. Awesome episode, by the way. I had been debating taking the 10mm plunge, but I think you’ve made up my mind.

Q- Just wondering … Do Pendraken and Copplestone look well together, in the same unit?

PS. Thanks for the trimmed fingernail and clean hands. I’m not into hands, not in any weird way, but if someone is going to zoom in on something that close held up by hand, they might as well look as good as possible. Right? Lol

I am printing these up but for 15mm . To match the minis I have, mostly battle valor and demonworld, I am printing the mounted Forest Dragon Miniatures at 140 percent and any foot soldiers at 165 percent to get a viable match. Depending on your likes, some miniatures I am printing up for 15mm from other sources I may make the miniatures a little wider in the x and y direction for what ever height I like them to be

on the Forest Dragon stl, I only wish he did the weapons not quite so huge.

Just a little clarification, warmaster basing is two strips on 40x20mm base that is called a stand. A unit is made up of one or more stands. Typically infantry units are 3 stands to make a unit

Have a massive 10mm lotr project I've been working on. What do ppl recommend as a basing method (20×40 bases)? Been doing the pva + sand so far and I've had only some limited success.

Followup; your video put a worm in my ear and I ended up signing up for Forest Dragon's Patron, and I bought up all the Despoilers army so far. Really looking forward to any more fantasy painting you do. I'm looking at these Despoiler Chariots and sweating so if you decide to paint any of these guys, I wouldn't be offended at all lol.
Thanks again for all you do!
