One of the most useful videos I have seen. Let this be an example to others. Thank you.

I appreciate you a lot sir because you just saved me a lot of unnecessary labour and money. I found that the purple wire was loose and so the car wasnt starting. But after doing the test on this video, it started because I used a multimeter to push it in and walla, the starter worked.

This is awesome I have been having similar problem on my A170 CDI. You have really saved the world from heavy spendings to our local Garages many times they do solve problem other way round and you get home with same problems.

I have w169 and this video solved my problem! He had same issues, starts when is cold, but not when he's been warmed up. And yes, it was starter.
YOU ARE GREAT

I will add one comment prior to swapping the starter. A click sound may also be poor battery voltage. I had the exact sound as here and power in the purple wire, but only 10, 5v in the battery. Swapped the battery and no more start issues. My petrol 150 had an original 75ah battery, while most online suggest a lower capacity 62-64ah that might give a too low starting power.

Your video is pure gold! Thankfully the starter is working, so I don't have to change it. It's an ECU problem, that when the engine is "hot" there is no voltage when turning the key to start between the purple wire and the minus of the battery. So my solution is a bit hacky but it works... having a push button connecting the purple cable with plus of the battery :)

Hi,
Excellent video, I have a problem where my car won't crank and also won't start.
The last time it started it made a sound for 5 seconds cranking .... I'm not sure what I should look for?

Starter relay or starter motor?

All the lights and headlight starts without any issue

To reach the starter you must lower the subframe. To lower the subframe you must undo the steering, when you undo the steering you must be very careful because inside the steering rack there is the torque sensor which damages very easily en will cause intermittent power steering failure. Also intermittent starting failure is often caused by a bad +15 Relay which is the grey one in the relay holder behind the glovebox. You can temporaly power the +15 section by powering one of the green 30A fuses in the fusebox next to the battery. There you go and now i wil hope to get extra karma points :)

Do you have a video showing how to change a fuel pump relay on a mercedes A class 150 year 2005 .. which i believe is on passenger side so how does one get access to it.

Hello Sir, and thank you for sharing so generously your expertise. On my W414 Vaneo 1.9 (like A190), symptoms are slightly differents : I have no click when trying to start, more like a buzz coming from the air box. I did your two tests, the bulb lights on, and it doesn't crank when bridged to +. But i have no click, just a buzz. Does this change the diagnostic of a faulty starter ? Thank you again, your video puts an end to very incomfortable weeks of searches.
