Maeglin | Wolf

My first attempt at video editing!

I was listening to this song a while ago and it really reminded me of Aredhel and Maeglin. Aredhel is one of my favorite characters in the legendarium, so I decided to try my hand in editing and make a video. I ended up using Maeglin’s name in the title because I feel like the song represents his perspective, but it’s about the whole Nan Elmoth family.

There are some flickering lights; nothing too extreme, but please take caution if you have photosensitive epilepsy or migraines.

Could we just talk about how heartbroken Maeglin actually needed to be...? His heart was dark, but dang it! His mother died protecting him from his own father who cursed him and didn't even probably love him.
He could've broken out of his attraction to Idril, but his heart was too much filled with darkness to break out, he instinctively was looking for any good feeling that could replace the pain after what happened. Once he got there, he was getting even deeper and deeper, not being able to comeback eventually. Just think about how much time he was spending on gems and other things, to just do something and not think about his life. He was extremely desperate, no wonder Melkor got him to reveal Gondolin's position

Honestly, Maeglin and Aredhel were two of my top favourites. This song suits him very well, but also her in some ways. Excellent editing! It's hard to find Silmarillion music videos, so I appreciate what you have done.

Hmm, good choice of song, I do think this verse really suits Maeglin.

Oddly enough, the other similar verse in the song suits young Eärendil.

Eärendil was born in the hidden land of Gondolin and saw its fall. He also helps to mend wrongs by going to Valinor and asking for the help of the Valar, on behalf of all the peoples of Beleriand, as he is a child of both Men and Elves.

Eol: was kinda right in some ways.
Maeglin: his only mistake was to love.
Aredhel: a white clothed party girl.

By the way, Turgon is one of my favorites.

Aredhel had been enchanted by her husband, specifically one that urged her to do everything possible to protect her son and not abandon him in one of those moments when she could have tired of being there.
When he was in Eöl, he deeply hated the Noldor for the Kinslaying of Alqualondë, but he was still in love with his wife, in his own way, and that is why he did not want to have anything to do with her parents and had decided for her and his son too.

As for Maeglin, he often took him with him and taught him everything he knew about smithing, minerals and everything he had learned himself.

He felt deeply betrayed by his wife and especially by his son, being a Teleri elf but he ignored all the facts and drew the wrong conclusions.

And he paid dearly for his mistake.

Maeglin wanted to kill his cousin's son by burning him alive after throwing him into the flames: Idril had recurring nightmares of Maeglin stealing her newborn son and throwing him alive into the flames of a blacksmith's furnace and this took away her sleep for years.

If it had not been for Tuor, Idril would have lost her son and would have been dragged by her hair into her house and raped by Maeglin, that was his intent, if they had both survived.
Maeglin's love was as corrupt as a rotten root unfortunately.

In Mandos he will be able to redeem himself.
