I rode with Lael on day 13 in France and she had my home made flapjacks, she was fast we were riding at 30km I managed 50 km riding with her but for the last 25 km I was drafting not bad for 68 years She was so nice I got a hug and a selfie.

Lael is my bicycling hero! I absolutely love her. She recommended reading “Coffee First Then The World “ by Jenny Graham, who held the world record before Lael’s epic ride. It’s a great book and although it was a different route with a far less level of support, I think it’s worth pointing out that they are both extraordinary women in a space historically dominated by men. More power to them for their amazing strength and endurance not to mention the fact that they are inspiring a younger generation of female cyclists. As someone who grew up as an athlete, and had many many experiences with all sorts of people.. I simply don't think that there is anyone that is more humble, talented and genuine than Lael.I've heard her speak several times, and it has always been a pleasure and something that I wanted to last longer. I saw that Lael got a QOM in my secteur (60km south of Paris) ... but she is the only woman recorded as having done it ! It's on a horribly dangerous dual carriageway main road (N20) where I have never ever seen a bike ! Glad she survived it !
