Dorothy Dandridge was born 102 years ago [on her next birthday] and died 59 years ago. Nobody who knew her would still be alive today. People who keep making videos about her were not living during her lifetime. They just keep repeating stories that have already been told or making up new stories. There is no mystery about her death. Her death certificate plainly states acute drug intoxication. ingestion of That was the final toxicology report. In recent years, it's been pointed out that medication during that time, the '60s, didn't have the warning labels that they have today, about maximum dosage, and mixing medication with other medication or alcohol. Consequently, there were a lot of sudden deaths such as hers, Nick Adams, Dinah Washington Pier Angeli, Judy Garland, Robert Walker. and Alan Ladd. For some reason, the story keeps being repeated that she died with only two dollars. She died with a signed contract for one hundred thousand dollars for two movies, [The Title Johnny Ringo was never mentioned] and she was scheduled to open at the renowned Basin Street East in New York the Friday of the week she died. Career wise things could not have been better for her. The story keeps being repeated that Otto Preminger said she should turn down the supporting role in "The King and I" IT was her 20th Century contract signed on February 15th, 1955 that said she should turn it down, not PRIMINGEr. Her contract was for star roles not supporting roles. She turned down the role in The King & I because it did not meet the terms of her contract and roles in Aida and Rigoletto because, in her own words, which can be viewed on YouTube, she wanted her next film after Carmen to be as far away from Carmen as possible. She owned a home in Beverly Hills, not in North Carolina. The story keeps being repeated in every video about her affair with Preminger and the abortion. These stories started after their deaths. She only had one child during her 1st marriage and no children during her second marriage. To me, it's not plausible that the lady who sued Confidential Magazine in 1957 for printing a story about her that wasn't true would put her career and reputation at risk by getting involved with an ugly, bald-headed married man who was old enough to be her Father during the 1950s when abortions were illegal and unlike today, it was not socially acceptable for a lady to be pregnant without being married. I don't think. the studio would have pressured her to have an abortion. I think Darryl F. Zanuck the president of 20TH Century Fox would have torn up her contract and her career would have been ruined. In addition to her movie contract, she was dependent on the public liking her enough to pay money to hear her sing in person. Today she is honored with a star on Hollywood Blvd. and a Statue at Hollywood Gateway.

So beautiful, I love coming across biographies/tributes to her and when I catch her story on TV, I always stop what I am doing to watch. She reminds me so much of my favorite cousin, who also is an actress now! We still love and remember you Ms. Dandridge ❤❤

Instead of wealthy Black people wasting their money on nonsense
Someone should buy and renovate that house. It's probably torn down by now but that would have been a nice investment

city, same hospital , decades apart ‼️

She had hurt her leg and thought nothing about it. But the bone chipped and made it's way into her system. That's what she died from, before people start saying she was murdered.

Yes but she is with the Lord & whatever earthly problems she faced has been diminished.

She was a trendsetter not afraid to stand up and speak about injustice encouraging black actresses not to compromise their talents because of the stereotyping of pre-set roles as maids and servant. She was a threat to the Hollywood Machine.

This story is so contradicting. The narrator of the story keeps going back-and-forth and it just makes no sense.
