This game looks better than most modern games. It's crazy how good it looks even now.

I really loved Ryse Son of Rome. Made me feel like a Roman soldier. Yet to see a game that does Rome stuff other than Total War

I play this late at night when I’m tired. Suits me that it’s simple as that is all i want sometimes. Not everything has to be super in depth and 80 hours long.

This was the quintessential launch title; a robust graphical showcase with entry level gameplay the whole way through. I loved it for that.

I bought this during a steam sale for like $5 about 2 years ago and I definitely didn't regret my purchase but I do remember thinking it was way too short. I think I was really into the story and wished there was more of it.

9 years later, it is still underrated but still one of the best looking games of that last decade.

Unpopular Opinion.

I miss linear story driven games.

I was honestly willing to (and did) overlook almost all of its faults for the subject matter alone. I'm a huge history buff and ESPECIALLY crazy about all things Rome, so it was very refreshing to see a new take on the time period.
Don't get me wrong there are many Rome themed games and some great mods, but most of them are either city builders, grand strategy or RTS. To truly get a story based Roman hack and slash was a breath of pure fresh air. I would be willing to throw ungodly amounts of money at "Skyrim in Rome" or "GTA: Rome (lol)" style games. And you know what, I don't think I'm alone in that.

It's such a fascinating time period with much potential that its honestly heartbreaking how underused it is. It genuinely makes me wish I was either filthy rich or a developer so I could make my own projects happen, so many great ideas there. Imagine this: A Roman era RPG, where you can choose your character's social class, skills, personality traits, and then go be the next Caesar or see what life was for the average legionary, trade, wage campaigns, build your family's name. All that is easily, EASILY 100s of hours of gameplay.

It’s basically the Xbox version of the Order 1886

I never tried it on the Xbox One, but boy was I blown away when I played it on pc at max settings. It was a fun time, not GOTY material but not close to being a bad game at all.

For people hating the combat : it's pretty much like the new GoW so why aren't you hating on that one too? I'm not saying that the combat is groundbreaking or anything, in fact it's pretty bland

I remember when Xbone and PS4 just dropped and me and my best friend who's now passed away disagreed on which console to get. I remember him showing me this and I could feel the regret seeping through him. I wish he could've stayed alive to see the MCC fixed and Destiny/Destiny 2 in its prime. Miss you Russ.

The game has enormous potential should they ever decide to make a sequel. A fantastical version of Antiquity that doesnt go crazy with magic, with a simple yet fun combat system that needs a bit more variety, maybe have troop commands that actually matter like a serious version of the dynasty warriors formula.

I got everything in the game, like every single execution, double execution, all scroles, stories, beat the game on hardest difficulty, achievements, etc and I would definitely agree that this game gets hella old after but there is re-playability sometimes if your in the right mood. I used to thump imagine dragons in my headset and play the beach landing mission where you have to take down the ship barriers and storm the castle and that used to be mean asf

This setting is super cool! A remake or sequel with better exploration and more flushed out gameplay would be awesome I think

It was SOOO inceribly short but sweet.
A very good flagship that was terribly marketed.
The whole Damoceles thing should have been Pushed a lot more.
The magic of a mythic figure come to life felt so intriguing when you did get there.
The game was very much missing a great anatagonist as well as protagonist.
Often felt like the set piece was the main character which will often turn into "now that it's on fire, what is my motivation? "

Color-coded finishers matched in the color of the buttons is NOT a relic from kinect. In fact, one would argue that they are LESS OBTRUSIVE than displaying an "X", "A", "Y" on screen all of the time. But you had to somehow tie kinect into this

The last section of you going through the hallway fighting a platoon of soldiers was such an incredible, unforgettable, and badass feeling.
