#4 VFX - DEEP VOID (Mandelbulb, Houdini)

Here is the 4th episode of the series! It is of a rather abstract sequence involving a kind of massive celestial object.

The simulation of this kind of "black hole" was done on Houdini, it is a Mandelbulb (the 3D version of the fractal from Mendelbrot's set) modelled thanks to Entagma's well-known tutorial and inspired by a more advanced setup by Thomas Dotheij.

The sequence is short but the rendering of this type of sequence is extremely long: two full weeks for just 10 seconds of animation on my machine!

The character's animation was done by keyframe, I found it quite tedious! The ideal for the next sequences would be to do motion capture directly to get more realistic movements.

Feel free to give me your opinion!

This is almost exactly what I need for a sequence I am working on! In one animated shot I have thanos and hulk tumbling through space time and I wanted them to go thru a mandelbulb full on Dr strange style. Can you point me to any tutorial? I'm fairly savvy with Houdini but some guidance would rock 😎👍🏽
