Sarah DeFerranti, MD, MPH, Director of Preventative Cardiology, treats children with early risk factors for heart attack and stroke. These factors, such as abnormal cholesterol levels and high blood pressure, are most common in children who are overweight. Genetics, family history, and family experience all play a role in her evaluations and care plans. A team of clinician specialists develops a comprehensive care plan for each patient that often involves family-wide changes in eating and exercise. Our providers include pediatric cardiologists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, and dieticians. Preventative cardiology clinics are available at our satellite locations in Peabody, Lexington, Waltham, the South Shore, and North Dartmouth.
