Know how in Star Wars, Darth Vader is the right hand of the Emperor because he may be surrounded by generals, admirals, governors, but he’s not one of them? Vader isn’t actually formally part of or beholden to the chain of command. That’s what DOGE is. A more or less completely unaccountable way to force the President’s will.

Does the Law really matter at this point? When the president and his cronies ignore court orders and current standing law then what is the point? Are we in the midst of a Constitutional crisis?

Just so that it’s clear, DOGE wants there to be a lack of clarity. The longer they keep you confused, the longer they have to get their work done.

We need to start using "DGE" to refer to the Department of Government Efficiency not just to distance this travesty from the legacy of that legendary Shiba Inu, but also to annoy Apartheid Clyde because he _hates_ it when you don't call things what he wants them to be called.

The question isn't really answered in the video, so I can answer it here. DOGE was a Japanese Shiba Inu named Kabosu who was very photogenic and her pictures went viral, especially in the form of memes.

..wait, what's that? That's not the DOGE we were talking about? Oh. My bad.

With DOGE, the ambiguity is the point. It's a government office when it needs to kick down people's doors and take their data, but suddenly it's an informal committee when people come along with FOIA requests and lawsuits. It has been constructed to exist in a perfect legal grey zone where it is accountable to no one but possesses as much power as it can grasp, and it will remain there until someone forces it into a legal box.

I work for a city health department, and we just had the public health apprentice we were hosting from the CDC get fired by DOGE. I've heard that he and other people from that program are suing, and I wish them the best. Absolute clownshow in DC right now.
