Ugandan Olympic marathon runner dies from burns following alleged attack | DW News

Uganda's Olympic marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei has died from burns following an alleged attack by her boyfriend in Kenya. Doctors tried to treat the wounds on 80% of her body but were unable to save her. One third of all Kenyan women are subjected to violence at some point. Women's groups are calling for more action against gender-based violence.

DW please correct the title of the video. It’s not an ALLEGED attack. It was an an attack and murder - period. Alleged means something is claimed to be the case or have taken place, although there is no proof. It would be alleged if you’re unsure.

My condolences to this incredible lady family and friends this was a cowardly and inhuman act ! This was a woman who went above and beyond to become an Olympic athlete she was from a county where it's really hard to make hen's meat but she pushed on against all the odds. Rest in peace ✌🌷✌
