Howard Hartenbaum from August Capital discusses different types of funding sources, different types of investors and how to approach them, what VCs look for in companies, and his experiences from being an IT investor and entrepreneur.

With over a century and a half of venture capital experience and many more years of practice in entrepreneurship, the teaching team and guest lecturers for this student initiated course cover the fundamentals for building a successful company. While there is no set formula for building a great company, basic principles and general patterns are manifested in the most successful start-ups.

If it weren't for friends and families there would be no money to start a business! There has to be someone during the early stages of conceptualization that backs your vision regardless of what a VC may think later down the road.

Understanding all of the jargon, but the focus is and will be the goal of progress of ideas' planned out in a real world thought. Planning becomes the first take, next will be the pitch and as he states, "what is the thought", of these investors. Profits are the result and no matter you work to plan and profit, hopefully the investor will be willing to ride the wave of your business.
