Configure Active Directory Sites and Services in Windows Server 2008 R2

1. Prepare

- DC1 : Domain Controller ; Card Bridged : IP 10.0.0.1, Default Gateway IP 10.0.0.9. DC2 : Domain Member ; Card VMnet2 : IP 10.0.2.2, Default Gateway IP 10.0.2.9

- DC3 : Domain Member ; Card VMnet3 : IP 10.0.3.3, Default Gateway IP 10.0.3.9

- DC9 : Routing Server; Card Bridged: IP 10.0.0.9, Card VMnet2 : IP 10.0.3.9, Card VMnet3 : IP 10.0.3.9

2. Step by step : Configure Active Directory Sites and Services on DC1 and check replication between Sites

- DC2 (HAIPHONG) : Promote to Domain Controller

+ Server Manager -Roles - Add Roles - Server Roles - Select "Active Directory Domain Services" - Add Required Features - Next and Install - Close

+ Start - dcpromo - Choose "Existing forest" - choose "Add a domain controller to an existing domain" - Next to "Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Password"

- Enter Password and Confirm password - Next to Install - Finish - Restart Now

- DC3 (HCM) : Do the same DC2

- DC1 (HANOI) : Create and Configure Sites ( HANOI, HAIPHONG and HCM )

+ Start - Administrative Tools - Active Directory Sites and Services - Sites - Right-click "Default-Fist-Site-Name" - Rename to HANOI

+ Right-click Subnets - New Subnet... - Prefix :: 10.0.0.0/24, click HANOI - OK

+ Right-click Sites - New Site... - Name : HAIPHONG - Click "DEFAULTIPSITELINK" - OK . Right-click Subnets - New Subnet... - Prefix :: 10.0.2.0/24, click HAIPHONG - OK

+ Right-click Sites - New Site... - Name : HCM - Click "DEFAULTIPSITELINK" - OK . Right-click Subnets - New Subnet... - Prefix :: 10.0.3.0/24, click HCM - OK

+ Configure "ADDS Replication" : Inter-Site Transports - Right-click IP - New Site Link... - Name : HANOI-HAIPHONG, select HANOI and HAIPHONG - Add - OK

+ Right-click HANOI-HAIPHONG - Properties - Change Schedule... - Set Monday through from Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM : Replication Not Avaiable ( or you custom ) - OK

+ Right-click DEFAULTIPSITELINK - Rename to HANOI-HCM - Right-click HANOI-HCM - Properties - Select HAIPHONG - Remove

- Change Schedule... - Set Monday through from Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM : Replication Not Avaiable ( or you custom ) - OK

+ Site HANOI - Server - Right-click DC2 - Move... - Choose HAIPHONG - OK, Right-click DC3 - Move... - Choose HCM - OK

+ Click PowerShell - Using commands line to check sites replication : repadmin /kcc, repadmin /showrepl, repadmin /bridgeheads, repadmin /replsummary, dcdiag /test:replications
