FIR's Pile Up Against Mahua Moitra For Remarks On Goddess; Kaali Controversy Escalates | Times Now

An FIR has been registered against TMC MP Mahua Moitra for her controversial comment on Goddess Kaali. She had called Kaali "meat-eating" and "alcohol-accepting". The case has been filed under section 295A of IPC for hurting religious sentiments. Reacting to the complaints against her by the BJP leaders, the TMC MP said: "Bring it on BJP! Am a Kali worshipper. I am not afraid of anything. Not your ignoramuses. Not your goons. Not your police. And most certainly not your trolls. Truth doesn’t need back up forces", she said in a fierce statement.
The Trinamool Congress distanced itself from Mahua's remarks, in a tweet, the TMC said the comments made by Mahua Moitra and her views expressed on Goddess Kali have been made in her personal capacity and are not a reflection of the beliefs held by the party and it doesn't endorse them in any shape or form. Meanwhile, BJP's Ram Kadam has demanded a lifetime ban on the documentary film 'Kaali'. He said the poster is just a gimmick to earn money at the cost of hurting Hindu sentiments. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Hindu religious sentiments have been hurt by Mahua Moitra's statement and that insulting Hindu deities will not be tolerated at any cost. The BJP is also staging protests against Mahua Moitra in Kolkata. It has filed two complaints against her and sought her suspension from TMC.
Earlier today, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor jumped in to back Mahua Moitra. He said he was taken aback by the attack on Moitra and clarified that it's obvious that she wasn't trying to hurt anybody by making such remarks. Watch the video to find out more about the issue!
